As far as on ball defenders go I'd say patterson, Hornsby, gray.....team defenders...nobody.
Simmons is 1st on the team in Defensive Win Shares and Blakeney is 3rd. Quarterman is second, and I'd concede that he is likely the 2nd best defender, but Blakeney is definitely up there as well.

ve seen Simmons too many times sit and watch his teammates get beat and not move a muscle.
It helps that everyone on this board stares down Simmons on every play, hence the endless flow of criticism. If you think Simmons' defense is bad, you should watch the rest of this team every single time down the court.

you can talk about your "win shares" all you want. Leave that crap for the sabermetrics nerds...The fact that Quarterman is 2nd in that category tells me that stat is crap. Quarterman may get a fair amount of steals but he is mostly out of position and does not recover once beaten. He does not move his body yet plays too much with his hands...and he does NOT play strong.
And you are correct....the rest of the team is bad defensively as well...it's not just Simmons. I guess I just expected a player with his athleticism and basketball background to be more aware of his surroundings on the court.
