Patrick F. Taylor's wife donated a ton of money from his estate to have the building named after him. LSU has a rule that buildings cannot be named after someone until some time after they die. They don't want to repeat the mistake of naming the law building after Governor Leche before he went to prison (it has sense been renamed after Paul M. Hebert).
They also timed the renaming with the opening of the new business complex. Without the business administration students in the building, it no longer made sense to call it CEBA. With that being said, many still call it CEBA because it's a lot easier to say that Patrick F. Taylor or PFT.

Dang. That sucks. But if there were ever a more deserving building of a fire on campus..
I mean those bathrooms. I couldn't begin to understand how the doors ever passed code. You could barely get in/out of those Tetris contraptions.

I think they just started calling it PFT when I started at LSU. Also my dad went to LSU and still calls it CEBA

It's currently undergoing a massive renovation.
