I prefer this move for him at this time. Sometimes I forget that he is a US college soccer player; making the jump to the Bundesliga would be a difficult move.
Seattle is a great organization and he can play with Dempsey, Martins, Ivanschitz in front of 45K fans. I think he will get plenty of minutes even if Seattle manages to avoid injuries this year because I think the manager will want to keep Dempsey and Martins fresh for the stretch run. That means they will need to be rested throughout the season due to the turf, age, etc.
If he continues to progress and develop as a quality professional player he will have more opportunities in the future. Let us say that he does very well for the next 3-4 years in Seattle. He can then look at making the move to Europe when he is 24-25 if that is something he would like to do. I think this is good for him.
