Any particular reason? Generally, a separate modem/router is going to be the better option.
If you're looking for something with a very basic use (example would be my older neighbors who have trouble figuring out how to open their web browsers) or are just severely limited on space and want one less device, a combo router might be an acceptable option. Other than that, skip it.

I got a SB6141 modem and Netgear R6300 router.
I see very little difference in anything so far.
