re: Any advice for a small Jon boat with trolling motor for fishing marsh?

I've been running poling skiffs for years. Fly fished around the globe for just about every game fish species imaginable. The most fun I've ever had in Louisiana was out of a beat to shite 13 foot gheenoe with a trolling motor that I bought for $150. It leaked, someone had painted over the gelcoat with exterior house paint. Looking back on it a small outboard would have been optimal. Something under 8hp that I could pick up easily.

I don't know about trout fishing in that thing but it was hell on side of the road redfish. I had a couple of spots down hwy 23 that were tailor made for a small boat like that.
