LSU is on top and every good coach, especially the young ones would want to be part of that. Enjoy the success, you really don't want to stick with some guy for a long period of time (see, Mich., Penn State, Tenn, Fla. St.). An infusion of new blood, at the head coach or assistant level is essential in today's college game. Take it from UofM, we just ended 20+ years of the same recycled thing. We won some, had stability, got some good players, stayed out of NCAA "jail," but we left a lot on the table in doing it.

Don't believe that Mich will act quickly, it doesn't work that way here. They knew in Sept Lloyd was going and did nothing. Not even a list. They are gong to form an advisory committee the week after Thanksgiving. They won't talk to anyone who is still involved in conference games or headed to the NC. They would see that as inappropriate. You won't see a move from Mich until after the NC game.

Bill Martin is a real estate guy (worth a fortune, takes no salary from UofM) brought in to fix the finances and rework the athletic facilities. Oh, he will make the hire, but others will make the selection.

Many think that this Mich Man thing is BS. The three top coaches in Mich history are: Fielding Yost (KS), Fritz Crisler (OH-Wesleyn) and Bo (Miami of OH), so Mich is at its best when it ignores a Mich Man and gets new blood. That's what most of the faithful want now.

Yeah, they might contact some agents, feel some AD's out (just to keep the Alums at bay) but they won't overtly interfere with any schools season, including their bowl game, until it is over. It is just not their way.

I totally agree with this and don't understand the insecure crybabies who want someone to be here 20 years to to justify that we're not a "stepping stone." I could give a rat's arse if we hire a new coach every 5 years as long as they leave an SEC championship or 2 and a national championship in their wake. New blood and new energy is good for the soul.

loopy the only issue with your comments is that Martin said he would like to have someone in place before the end of the year
