Keeping the BCS and going to 4 teams would have been ideal. It seems highly unlikely that the playoff committee did not consider this and chose the current format for financial reasons. That leaves me skeptical that they will make their decisions based on the integrity of the game.

And the "teams left out" point extends infinitely; going to 8 teams isnt gonna reduce the gray area.

Not ideal, but better in principle. A computer system or composite (and no polls) featuring formulas open to the public is ideal. This eliminates bias, agendas, and other chickenshit and puts the teams themselves in complete control of the general outcome.

This is my issue. Any expansion will be for political reasons, and not to add more worthy teams. I fully believe it would be the 5 P5 winners and at least 1 required non-P5 team to avoid it looking like anybody's feeling get hurt. Screw that.

If anything, it would make it bigger. All you do is bring more teams into the discussion.
