I love it at 4.
4 teams suck. Especially when you have 5 power conferences and Notre Dame. Expand it to 6-8 and cap it there.
What happens when:
Oregon goes 12-0 and wins the Pac 12
Ohio State goes 12-0 and wins the Big 10
Texas goes 12-0 and wins the Big 12
Florida State goes 12-0 and wins the ACC
Alabama goes 12-0 and wins the SEC
Notre Dame goes 12-0 (and doesn't play FSU that year in their ACC play)

This has always been the issue; you have 5 conferences and ND
How you can make a "new" system that is still broken is beyond me. Looking back, to think that Baylor should have been ranked ahead of OSU last year is laughable, but there are a % of people, including OSU fans, who weren't sure how good OSU was in 2014. Last year there were absolutely 6 teams 'deserving' of the 4 spots. This year it worked out better for who should be in, but there were upsets during the year that although those 4 were the right teams to get in, they may not have been the strongest.
A system can't work perfectly every year, but if there is a year where the SEC and B1G champ have 2 losses each, and the other 3 have 1 loss champs and ND has 1 or 0 losses, there will be all out hell
since those 2 conferences have honestly a lot of the power

When has this ever come close to happening. When you lose a game you lose your right to complain in a significant matter in college football. The only time in recent memory that this came close to happening was 2004 with usc ou and auburn. There will never be more than 4 (which is also never going to happen) power 5 undefeated conference champions.
