Depends on where you live I think. In most places camera generated tickets are considered civil fines not traffic violations. So it doesn't hit your driving record or generate points etc.

Ive gotten a few over the years and never paid one. On one I got in California in a rental car, I got a letter a couple of times but threw it away. (and Ive since been back and rented cars again for business with no hassles.)

like the 1st responder says, don't pay it...

for future reference, if it's a right on red camera and you catch the flash, just come to a complete stop and hold for a cpl seconds before resuming your trek.

somebody usually reviews the clips, they'll noticed you held prior to moving on and should dump the ticket
so you'll never see that one

tripping the camera early has to be quite common

Pay it. If you don't, you won't be able to renew your license. Speaking from experience here. In my defense, my notice got lost in the mail. Really.

ETA: Got my ticket in NOLA, not BR.

Where do you live?

And in what city did you violate the red light ordinances?

Actually, the 6th Ammendment gives you the right to face your accuser. Try this argument as the camera cannot be sworn in.

NOLA.com - By now, many people certainly know that the city-parish doesn't have many -- or any -- teeth if they don't bother to pay up. The Advocate wrote a story in Sept. 2013 saying about 40 percent of the tickets issued since 2009 had never been paid, and the city-parish had never pursued anyone for it, beyond having a collection agency send them letters. The next month, the issue was a factor when the Metro Council was debating whether to renew the contract for the cameras.
