I was worried about going to satellite as well, but I've really only lost signal when it's a pretty bad thunderstorm. I certainly still miss cable in the sense it never went out, but if that's your only determining factor, I wouldn't worry about it.

My company sells both DirecTV/AT&T and Dish and I was in Outside Sales with Comcast for several years (I know, glutton for punishment). I may can answer any questions you may have. Ask away. I'm here in Louisiana.
