The BOS is appointed by the governor.
It is considered a coveted appointment.
If you look at the folks who populate the Board, you will quickly see (if you know La. politics) that the appointees are overwhelmingly political appointments, who have no business on a board having such an importance influence on the future of higher education in Louisiana.
One hopes the new governor selects folks based on a criterion other than pleasing those who made the biggest contributions to his campaign.
