The problem is that PRIVATE MONEY would have paid for all of it.

And the problem nationally is that it's an absolute joke that people would spend that much money on a football coach but can't be bothered pay professors of the university the team supposedly represents.

And btw, LSU recruits both students and athletes nationally, so that is very important.

LSU academics and athletic program can now go into the toilet together because King Alexander is worried about public perception.

We are fricked with this guy as our President.

This is about business. LSU football brings more money, year in and year out, to LSU than any professor. LSU has experienced more positive growth since 2000 than at any point since the 1950s. Much of that is attributable to football being good.

Alabama is experiencing the same thing currently with its university. Applications are up, student quality is up, capital expenditures are up, infrastructure improvements, etc.

So, while what you are saying is true in some ways and is no doubt altruistic...it is not an apples to apples comparison.

LSU athletics over a 10 year period is close to a one billion dollar entity by itself. Football makes up most of that number.

I know developers in Baton Rouge and business men that are household names in Louisiana. To a man, they believe the economic prosperity of the state has a direct correlation to the success of the LSU athletics program.
