I think there would have still been a huge fallout and a bunch of legislators on the floor of the Capital saying: "We can pay Les Miles $15 mil not to coach, but we can't pay our teachers". I can't tell you how many conversations I had with people who have no idea how the athletic department generates funds. I think that was a large portion of the public outcry and what brought on the political aspect.

I still have people at work saying the State can't afford to pay $15 million to Miles. It is just ridiculous that people will not understand or cannot understand how the Athletic department gets it funding. We spoke to people before the game and it was the same thing.

If Alleva never gives Miles the extension in 2012 or rewrites the contract correcting the massive buyout, he gets his coach. So don't be mistaken, this is still Alleva's fault, but the "poor LSU" facade plays all across the State when we are threatening to do away with 4-year Universities. Alleva has made every single problem he is currently having and the political climate where now the left is emboldened does not help. It shouldn't matter but it does.
