According to Heisman Mission:
All-Purpose Yards through 12 games:
3035(625 yds ahead of nearest competitor),253 AP yds/game. #1 in nation.
Rushing Yards through 12 games:
1640, 5.7 yds/carry, #6 in nation.
KO Return Yds through 12 games:
922, 29.7 Yds/rertun, #7 in nation.
Receiving Yards though 12 games:
435, 11.8 yds/reception.
NOTES:
-7 rushing TDS (fullback takes most short-yardage attempts and leads team with 13 TDs)
-3 recieving TDs
-1 KO return TD
-1 passing TD
-Additional yards accumulated on minimal punt returns and passing.
quote:Plays for Power 5, 10-win, Division Champion vying for 11th win in conference championship and remains -albeit against long odds- a playoff contender.
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Number of TDs will keep the trophy out of hands

it will probably be watson, just for being undefeated and #1 team

He just broke Reggie Bush's Pac-12 all-purpose yards record. He's 360 yards shy of the all-time record set by Barry Sanders. If he can beat that, he deserves the Heisman.

They are going to give it to Henry. It doesn't matter that it doesn't make sense.

I hate what the Heisman has become. It has become the "best player on the best team award" and is the most overrated trophy in college football.
With that being said McCaffrey should get a lot of votes. If the voting comes down to regions he will lock up the West Coast. Henry, Cook and Watson will split South. The Mid-West will determine who wins the Heisman this year.

Hes deserving thats for sure. Just dont think hes gotten the correct amount of press to get him over the edge.

I agree with you. He's the best skill position player in the game but the award doesn't go to the most deserving

I have a hard time seeing the Heisman going to a running back who rushed 20 times for just 58 yards and zero rushing TDs against a UCF team that is currently ranked 102nd against the run

quote:This skews the stats and makes it somewhat deceiving.
KO Return Yds through 12 games:
922, 29.7 Yds/rertun, #7 in nation
In particular, McAffrey's had 31 KO returns this seasons. There are 45 TEAMS that have 31 or fewer KO returns on the season--across FBS, 35 is the average for a TEAM. For comparison purposes, Ohio State has only 14 returns the entire season.
What makes the KO returns deceiving is how easy it is to accumulate yardage. The average KO return is ~21.4 yards. Therefore, 31 average KO returns would add up to 660+ yards. with Missouri has the worst KO return average by a a yard, and they still average > 15 yards per return (~ 470 yards for 31 returns).
There is no doubt he's had a great season and his versatility is a definite positive; however, when you put his return yards into context, his stats become less Heisman worthy.

Darn. Hate I missed this thread. Henry is 1/3 to win the trophy. It's his, and he is very, very deserving. Roll damn Tide, Derrick!
