Every time I see someone mention money, Les's salary or the the buyout, all I can really read is jealousy and inferiority complex. This quite obviously isn't and never has been about money for LSU or Les.
Les was compensated within the scope of his profession. Say all you want about a downward spiral, holding LSU "hostage" for a raise, etc, but in all reality, Les has run a top tier program for 11 years and LSU paid him a competitive wage within his industry to do so.
I don't think a person alive would "feel sorry" for Miles because of his payout because I doubt he really gives a shite about it himself. Of course, he's going to get what he's owed as per the contract he negotiated, and he's entitled to it. Most top tier coaches have a very similar clause in their contracts.
For the love of all that's holy, just stop with the buyout crap. It's so misguided. If you think money is the solution to everything I feel sorry for you. For Miles and for LSU this is about way more.

I will freely admit it. I am totally jealous I don't make 4.5 million dollars a year to coach football (or do anything else for that matter).
