Yeah, they won 3 titles in the 80's, one in 90's and another in 2001. If you want to call that a powerhouse 30 years ago, that is fine. Pretty sure most of that success was due to money under the table also. "Pay for Play" scandal, Shapiro Scandal. You know the type of things that cause sanctions. Yet, during those years, they rarely sold out their stadium. Johnson won one title left for Dallas then hired Erickson who won two national titles and left for NFL. Both were never really fired, both left for NFL jobs.
