Been there done that. 'Disease' is the weakest of excuses. Cancer is a disease. Diabetes is a disease. Alcohol is a voluntarily ingested drug to which you can become addicted.

Do you consider meth heads to have a 'disease'?

Yes, I consider addiction to be a disease. It's really not a debate, pretty cut and dry.
