Do you think that we may start to see CBB style challenges between conferences? Seems like a good idea to me

No - not enough non conference game slots.

Title made my brain hurt, but I think it would be really cool. Don't know if it would work though.

Pac 12 and Big 10 had signed a deal to start one and then canceled it

It's a good idea but football is a tough sport to do this. Not enough games.

It's the same reason I don't think 4 teams is enough to determine a champion. 12/13 games is such a small sample size to determine the 4 best teams out of 130, especially when you only have 3-4 non conference games that are what determine the strength of leagues.

Doubtful. Too many schools already have a permanent OOC rivalry game that they play every year (UGA-GT, Clemson-SC, Florida-FSU just off the top of my head) and then with some conferences having 9 conference games, that leaves you with 2 or 3 open slots each year. I doubt many of the schools with a permanent OOC would want to add another P5 team to an already difficult schedule and possibly only have room for 1 cupcake.

That's pretty much what bowl games are, except they only do one matchup or so a year.
