The training is limited for sure but I still don't think it should be necessary and I think we're moving closer towards constitutional carry each year.

1. One day of lethal force law training is not nearly enough training to make you a proficient shooter or concealed carrier. But most people think a concealed carry class is a defensive pistol course. It isn't.

2. Only about 10% of those who take a concealed carry class will actually carry on a regular basis.

3. Unless someone takes it upon his or her self to get real defensive handgun training, he or she will likely not practice often.

4. Those who carry regularly will do so responsibly and seek out proper training regardless of a permitting system.

5. Like any other permitting system, it is run by people and people are fallible. Some who don't need to get denied might and some who should be denied won't be.

But this is all simply my opinion.

This. Private civilians with private funds will shoot far more than the police and train more. This is why I hate when people say the police have more proper training, this is simply not true. In fact, a lot of departments complain about lack of ammo for qualification and training.
