Number #1 overall pick

In two years has barely played, has 21 tackles and a whopping 1 sack.

Is apparently made out of glass, chronically injured, injuries seem to take forever to heal.

Probably not what the Texans had in mind.

At what point do you write him off? How many more seasons of this does he get a pass for.

He missed a year with injury. And most people take 2 years to come back from acl. Patience

The dude had microfracture surgery in his knee. Let's not act like he sprained his ankle and is refusing to come back.

Now, if his production remains at the same pace for his career then yes, he is a huge bust. (especially since Mack has had a such a solid start to his career) But you need more time for someone who started his career getting his knee fricked up.

On a personal note I hate how the Texans use Clowney. They actually drop him back in coverage and throw him all around the line. (we tried that once or twice at SC and it never worked out). The dude is fast and strong, he is best suited on the end.

And UGA fans of all people should know he was more than just the Clowney hit. Hell, your QB admitted to having nightmares about him.

eta: Mack has a whopping 6 more tackles.

It is hard to call a 22 year old a bust especially with the potential he showed in college

that does not make him a bust.

Jamarcus defines bust. holding out. thrown to the wolves after claiming the golden ring. Falls on face. That is a bust.

Clowney has a whole lot of quit in him. Don't see how the Texans didn't see that from his last year in college.

I put it mostly on that shitty field they play with in Houston

It was a ticking time bomb and Clowney stood too close

He had micro fracture surgery, what do you expect?

Why do we, as a collective, have to write him off? He's been a great run defender this year, and he'll slowly gain back the freak athleticism that made him the number one overall pick.

As far as always being compared to Mack, does Aaron Donald going 13th overall make everyone look bad? No, because drafted players go to completely different situations, and should be given a little time to develop before slapping labels on them.

Just my two cents.

I'm not ready to call him a complete bust....but yeah it's not looking good so far.

To be honest I wasn't really expecting very much production/if any out of him at all this season anyway.

If he still looks like a lost cause next season, then yeah I'll be closer to calling him a bust.

I wanted the Texans to draft Mack, or a QB, or trade the pick away that year anyway. Clowney scared me with his injury issues and the reported poor work ethic. Him basically taking the season off his junior year really rubbed me the wrong way about him and his character.
