OK, so some background: There's a guy in my league, we'll call him "John," who talks shite constantly and has the biggest horse shoe up his arse he's so lucky. I'm talking every week he seems to play the team that has all bye weeks, he's always in the bottom of the league in points against, drafts poorly but hits the jackpot on the rookie sensation that saves his team, etc.

Anyway, he's sitting in one of the last playoff spots at the moment and played the last place team this week. Well unfortunately, the last place team apparently forgot (or stopped giving a frick) to plug a QB and K into his lineup(I didn't notice until this AM). If he would have he has a good chance of beating John, depending on some Monday night players. So obviously it's not fair to other teams who had to play the last place team at full strength and are competing for that last playoff spot while John gets a free pass. But it's also not fair for me to retroactively pick which QB was in the lineup (Fitzpatrick or Carr - 10-12 point difference). This may all be moot if Alshon doesn't play well enough tonight for the last place team to have hypothetically won, so we'll see if it even matters.

We don't have any kind of league rule on this issue, so I'll probably be scrutinized for deciding I have the power to plug someone in the lineup. And this last place team manager has never done this in the past so I had no way of knowing/preventing it beforehand. So if anyone has any experience or suggestions I'd much appreciate it.

Oh and here's the kicker. Last week another team waited until the last second to replace his bye-week QB against the #1 team and of course John was texting me like crazy that I had to get on him about it so the #1 team wouldn't get an easy win. And of course I don't hear a peep from John this week now that he's the beneficiary of it. So that just annoys me even more

And if it matters, I'm the #2 team and am about to clinch a playoff spot, so my ruling on this isn't completely biased...although it's possible I could lose the rest of my games and get passed by John for seeding or something

No dilemma.
You stay put.
Don't do shite.
And find people who care enough about the league to set lineups next year.

Even though everyone hates this guy (why is he invited to play in the league every year), you should do nothing at all. The owner that forgets/refuses to set his lineup should not be invited back next season, but under no circumstances should you now choose to start editing lineups when you havent been from the beginning. The first mistake was having a guy in a league that lacks common courtesy and integrity to commit to something and finish it out. I would call him and directly challenge his manhood.

You dont anything about it. John being a dick isnt grounds for you to set another guys lineup to beat him. I would be replacing the guy that didn't set his lineup next year.

Agree with everyone else, don't do anything. Find out why the guy didn't set his lineup, my league has a 2 time forfeit rule. Don't set a complete line-up twice in a season, you're out next year. shite happens every now and then, but it's too easy to take 5 seconds to just plug players in from your phone or call/text the commish and have him set your line-up if you can't do it for one reason or another.

Next season set rules in place that if a team does not set their lineups and leaves bye players or players listed as out earlier in the week (sometimes you just miss the last minute line-up inactives) in the commish is required to plug in the player with the highest projected points per the site your league is set-up with. Not enough players, then it goes down w/ a 0.

Just call out John for not texting you about his opponent not setting their lineup against him, like he did with the other matchup.

then just leave it at that.

Holy shite you can't touch the guys lineup that forgot to put in QB and K.

Doesn't matter how unfair it is that other people played him at full strength.

You can't touch that team.

Don't do anything, boot the owner.

I will never understand some people, I am in a league with a $100 buy-in and it is crazy how many people just do not give a shite. We have 2 owners right now that have completely checked out.

Id probably want to fight if a commish did something like that to me in a money league lol. You don't mess with anyone's line-up its not johns fault that the teams he played had byes and didn't set their line-up.

you cant change it, but what you can do is remind everyone from here on out to make sure their lineup is set.

Talking shite and getting lucky aren't against the rules. Hell, it's one of the main reasons I play fantasy football. If you plug someone in you are a shitty cheating commissioner. You need to tell the last place owner to get fricked and he can't play next year.

Thanks for the replies. I'll leave it alone and keep a closer eye on his lineups from now on. It's not my first instinct to interfere as commish, but I hate to see the playoffs affected by something so stupid

For those that don't read and reply with the smartass "Well why do you allow someone in the league that doesn't give a shite" responses I'll repeat: this owner has never done this before. I think this is the first year he has been in last place, so obviously I had no problems with him in the past. Now I know.

And I do try to create other payouts/incentives to keep the last place teams interested, but guess it wasn't enough.

Can't do anything now.

Implement a cash reward for highest scoring team each week. Lowest scoring team has to pay it ($10).
This way, people who are out of playoffs will set their lineups every week to
1: hopefully pull off a great week and win some money back or
2: not score the least and lose more money
