Sorry to rain on your very good hunt Athletix but that is not a hen mallard. It's a hen Gadwal. They look very similar but a hen mallard is usually a little bigger and has a full mottled belly. Just want to point that out. Great story and hunt congrats!

You're good man. I appreciate you pointing it out. Pretty cool either way. One of the guys thought it wasn't a mallard, but I think we convinced our selves of it being a mallard.
