No deep theory, just saying he didnt start at Bama with 5-star kids beating his door down to play for him. He builit it.

He actually did, though. 
I guess you can hold the 2007 class against him but he had less than a month to build it. His 2008 class had Julio Jones and Mark Ingram.
There's a reason the Alabama AD flew down to Miami to essentially convince Saban to quit the NFL.
