That's your problem right there. NEVER call and ask to do anything. You'll just get to wait for a technician in 3-7 days if they can't fix it over the phone.
We've had boxes cause problems and I always just bring the box in to the store. They exchange it(usually with no questions). Now, I don't know how the contour boxes work so if it's one of those, maybe they have to come out then?

Still butt hurt over a technician picking up two old boxes from me and never logging the info. Had to dispute for four years before I finally caved in and paid the $500.
The lesson is simple. Never trust Cox to do things properly. We're so lucky to have Cox as the main cable provider.
Google, if you read this, I beg you to come end our suffering.
