Not really that far. Especially with the some of the party barges they have now.
My only advice would be to bring some sort of mosquito netting or a tent if you plan to camp out. I would want more than just a sleeping bag.

I've been wanting to do a kayak trip from Shreveport to Alexandria for awhile now. Plans were destroyed this year with all the flooding.
Camp on the sandbars and tow a 3rd canoe with aupplies.
