I would have thought so, too, but probably because we identify them with wagon trains and pioneer days, and the California gold rush. And actually they were created for cattle drives and cattle work.

I just had deja vu. Has this topic been discussed here before?

If it was I'm sure Pawl hijacked it, the jerk.

I thought they were certainly in use at least during the Civil War. I have Lonesdome Dove I'll watch again.
