State Police said authorities arrested a Mississippi man for causing a deadly wreck on I-10 West Tuesday evening on I-10 and then fleeing the scene. Troopers said 25-year-old Daniel Alex Coy of Gulfport was taken into custody Thursday in Harrison County, Miss. and is awaiting extradition back to Louisiana. State Police said around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday Coy was driving a pickup west on I-10 behind two 18-wheelers near the Louisiana-Mississippi state line. Troopers said Coy tried to pass one of the big rigs on the right shoulder of the interstate, but had to swerve back onto the road to avoid hitting a bridge overpass guardrail. Troopers said Coy's pickup hit one of the 18-wheelers, which in turn crashed into the second truck. LSP investigators said the second truck, driven by Steven Clark of Theodore, Ala., was pushed through a cement barrier and crashed into the Pearl River below the interstate. Clark died in the wreck and his remains were later recovered by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office dive team. Troopers said Coy fled the scene west on I-10 toward Slidell.
