I think Campbell will be a good hire for someone, but we might not be hearing his name much yet since a lot of MAC coaches du jour haven't panned out.
Gill, Beckman and Hazell were disasters. Kill and Doeren have done nice jobs, but Minnesota and NC State haven't become contenders in their respective divisions.
Unless I'm forgetting someone, Brian Kelly is the only former MAC coach that has had a lot of success in recent years.

Butch Jones did pretty well following Kelly at both CMU and Cincy. But prior to that, Urban Meyer going from Bowling Green to Utah was probably the most successful jump. That was way prior to the Pac 12 too, so maybe the jump from MAC to power conference is too steep. The most successful recent coaches have all gone to an intermediate step in between.
