I dont get the hot water freezing faster thing...doesnt hot water have to get cold before it freezes? Cold water is already cold!

FWIW, I started putting a burlap sheet over my windshield when I know a good ice/snow storm is coming.
Pull it off when you're ready to go, shake it off, and throw it in the trunk.
