You are being ignorant (correct use of the phrase)
The teacher did call an administrator (think it was the vice principal that showed up) and both the teacher, the principal and Leon Lott said initially that the officer reacted appropriately.
It was only with the social media response and the mainstream media picking up the story because of it that this incident has gone national and resulted in the spineless Leon Lott firing the officer.
