Who do you use? Is it worth it? How does it work? Like a human plan where you just make a copay? Or do you pay upfront and then get reimbursed?

I saw a flyer a few years ago. I think it was like a regular health insurance plan. Premiums and copays. I don't think it's a smart thing but I'm no expert.

I use Petgressive's 401k9 plan. Pretty sweet deal. First time I submitted a claim I was reimbursed 80% of the cost of the burial shovel.

My cat has life insurance. She's a baller. When she goes I'm gonna be living large.

Obamacare should be a package deal with pet insurance included

Old HOA required a liability policy on pets. After we moved I kept the policy. They are covered If they were to ever bite anyone or get a hold of someones miniature pinscher.

It's relatively inexpensive. I want to say it's $250/year, but I don't remember the exact amount.

Liability should be the only thing considered in case your pet attacks someone.

If the cost of a vet visit exceeds the cost of a new dog of the same breed (plus all shots, etc), I am of the opinion that it is time for a new dog.

we have care credit, had to get it when we picked up a beat up old dog at my hunting camp and tried to fix her up... $3000 we gave it away

its just a credit card but only used at vets. not sure why we didn't just use a regular credit card, I seem to remember the interest rate being really high

I use Pet's Best at about $30 per month. Absolutely worth it for my Cane Corso Mastiff. She came down with a bacterial infection a few months ago on the weekend which had me take her to emergency clinic and leave her overnight. She was spewing out of all holes, not eating and extremely dehydrated. They had to put her on an IV and constant monitoring, special food and injections. The bill wound up being $1900 and insurance covered 80%. If you love your pet it is absolutely worth it! I don't believe the extra cost of general maintenance which includes annual vaccines, heart worm and check-ups is worth it though. But that is basically determining if you prefer to pay larger sums at time of the visit versus a regular monthly amount that covers those costs but it doesn't really save anything that I could tell.

Both of our dogs are over 7 yrs old now and about 3 yrs ago we opened up a savings account for them.To each his own but we just could not see paying premiums over savings account, but i do understand some having insurance on special breeds that are prone to having problems.

If my dog gets really sick or injured I will just make an anonymous call to the cops when nobody is home. I can't bring myself to shoot my own dog.

I do have pet insurance through Banfield Vet hospital. We love it! We pay about $35 per month and it is great when the dogs go to their every 6 month check-up and we don't pay one dime.

I don't but I wish I had. My super healthy, never cost me more than yearly shots/heartworn meds broke her leg in January for around $4000+ dollars and I'm still paying it off.

Care credit gives you a year to pay it off before it rapes you with 30% interest
