It was worse than the score indicates. CHS scored in under 2:00 on five drives in the first half. They were already playing backups prior to halftime.
High school sports are microcosm of the problems with public school in general in BR and NOLA. Functional families don't want their kids in public schools and do everything they can to keep them out. That leaves a lot of dysfunction in urban public schools and we see that display itself in sports.
What's really sad is that there are some great individual kids stuck in these schools that could really shine if placed in a functional environment.

it's unfortunate you can't talk about high school football without race being the elephant in the room, but it is what it is
also just using Chalmette and the teams we play, there is a correlation to the number of coaches (varsity and JV combined) listed in the LHSAA directory and the teams' success (calpreps state ranking)
Holy Cross 18 (21)
Chalmette 13 (66)
John Ehret 11 (29)
Landry Walker 10 (28)
St. Thomas Aquinas 9 (37)
Helen Cox 8 (180)
Bonnabel 7 (227)
East Jeff 7 (149)
West Jeff 7 (119)
Higgins 7 (126)
Grace King 6 (287)
