Aint that the truth. Joakim Soria, Jose Valverde, and Fernando Rodney all highlight this. Sometimes those guys were untouchable, next thing you know, they cant get through an inning to save their life, for one reason or another.

So how about that Roy Oswalt Trade

quote:

Oswalt was dealt to the Philadelphia Phillies for J. A. Happ and two minor league players, center fielder Anthony Gose, and shortstop Jonathan Villar,

quote:

Immediately after, Gose was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for first baseman Brett Wallace.

Wallace was DFA'd prior to the 2014 season. He hit .242 with 29HR and 102 in 313 games for Houston.

Happ went 18-28 with a 4.84 ERA as an Astro.

Villar hit .236 with 10HR 46RBI and 42SB in 198 games. Traded to Milwaukee for Cy Sneed.

quote:

Happ was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays on July 20, 2012, along with Brandon Lyon, and David Carpenter, for Francisco Cordero, Ben Francisco, Asher Wojciechowski, David Rollins, Joe Musgrove, Carlos Pérez, and Kevin Comer

Cordero went 0-3 with a 19.80 ERA and 3 blown saves in 6 games before being released. Ben Fransisco played in 31 games as an Astro, hit .247 with 2HR and 5RBI.

quote:

The Seattle Mariners selected Rollins from the Astros after the 2014 season in the Rule 5 Draft. On March 27, 2015, Rollins was suspended 80 games for testing positive for stanozolol, a performance-enhancing drug. Rollins was activated from the suspended list and made his major league debut on July 4, 2015.

quote:

On November 5, 2014, the Astros traded Carlos Pérez and Nick Tropeano to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for Hank Conger.

Pérez was promoted to the major leagues on May 4, 2015 to back up Chris Iannetta.

So in all, the direct trade for Oswalt was a bust. The 3 players we got didn't work out for us. Tracing back to the Oswalt trade, he'res what we've netted from it.

Hank Conger: ML back up catcher. Hit .229 with 11HR and 33RBI in his first season with the Astros

Asher Wojciechowski: made the 2015 rotation out of spring training. Was ineffective and demoted to AAA.

Joe Musgrove: Astros #9 prospect (#3 pitching prospect). 22 years old. Posted a 1.88 ERA over A, A+ and AA in 2015.

Kevin Comer: 22 years old. 4.45 ERA at A+ Lancaster in 2015.
