Playing for PK's is rarely a viable strategy, and eating that sub until the 119th minute for the purpose of the penalty shootout was also poor. Jones was gassed at the 75th minute. Now that it comes out that Johnson actually has a thigh injury and wasn't taking himself off for the purpose of ruining JK's master plan, why should we believe a word JK says about it?

Are we that much worse than Mexico that we had to play for a god damn penalty shootout with them? The answer is clear and maybe playing for the shootout was JK conceding their superiority. Regardless, when both sides are organized, the US is generally a better team. When we play players out of position, and with no regard for spacing, of course we are going to make Mexico look amazing.

The fact that Beckerman was constantly overrun in zone 14 destroyed our spacing, as it caused Jones to tuck in, leaving his wing free. If Jones was simply a wing player with proper support centrally, maybe he wouldn't have been gassed. But the fact that he was is not indicative of poor fitness, but rather extremely poor tactics.

Yeah the diamond 4-4-2 clearly isn't working, and we aren't great with only one defensive midfielder. It causes too many problems.
