Depends on where you live. Anchorage isn't much different from other medium size cities. Every town and city is very different from the next. I'm in the Southeast which is about the size of Florida, but has 70,000 people total, about half live in Juneau.
You get a lot more amenities and things to do compared to a similar size town or city in the lower 48 because of relative isolation.
