I think as much as anything, defensive positioning cost us this game. Why do we shift and then pitch to the gap side of the plate? Why was springer playing so far in on that triple? Do the players do that on their own or is that a management call? Too many metrics and not enough instincts. Hinch pushed the wrong buttons this afternoon.

Positioning is mostly management and metrics but fast outfielders are allowed play more shallow if they choose.

Every one of those shift beaters were on pitches where the pitcher missed his spot.

Springer never saw the ball off the bat. 9 times out of 10 he gets that ball.

Royals played better than the Astros tonight. Key here though is the Astros are still producing runs without Gattis and Correa really swinging the bat well.

Sunday will be fun. I'm wearing my Rasmus inspired ski goggles to the game.
