I was actually going to fish the marsh west of spicers for reds this time to get my feet under me before going for bigger water. Any suggestions?

I have a few buddies that have been doing well in that same area but I've never tagged along with them. I've fished West Cove a few times, and done well, that's another option that's near by. You can put in at the boat launch, take a right at the second canal and that leads to a ton of broken marsh area with alot of shallow flats.
