It somehow makes this much more enjoyable knowing that it makes so many extremely miserable.

Why are you that worried about it? No real reason to hate on the true fans, so if you are one from the area, you do you. But you know a lot of the bandwagoners are attracted to the fact that it's one of the "cool" teams with all the mystique, pageantry, and fanfare associated with the club. We all know the Red Sox "fans" a decade ago were nauseating as well.
