I started watching it expecting to like the cinematography, setting, etc... but not really care for the storyline. Pleasantly surprised by the execution of the whole thing. Having it start out in the past then go even farther back in the past probably helped me to not nitpick the situation and the main characters' reactions (both she in the past and her husband in the 'then' present). Binge watched the whole thing in two chunks and will continue do so in that fashion.

I love the time travel of the show. I love the 1700's better than Present day. Frank makes me so mad.
