Should be able to catch some tuna behind the shrimp boats pretty close in.

How long will the shrimp boat fishing last? I'm sure it has to do with the shrimping season, so I guess that's my real question is when does it end this year?

I was thinking that didn't start until the end of October

Maybe it changes year to year, but we went on October 10th 2012 and caught two big yellowfin. Both over 175 pounds.
Only reason I asked how long it lasted was I read they are potentially reopening red snapper season the weekend of November 20th. If shrimp boat fishing is still on at thst time then that would be a great weekend to book a trip out of Venice.

On a normal year tuna shrimp boat fishing wraps up around the end of October. I've seen it go longer but that is atypical.
As for right now, Tuna bite is on big time yall should do well.

No it's regulated by the state. Last year it was year round. This year it closed on the second week of September, however the commercial sector didn't catch their quota due to a federal law that kept most of them out of state waters. The state is now going to re open to recreational fishing Nov. 20.
