So you're just hanging the wood then will hang the shelves from that? I would figure out a way to put something through the corrugations and bolt through the wood. I'd be leery of just a sheet metal screw holding a shelf. Not that it can't, just not the safest option.

That's how I'd do it. Drill all the way through and use a bolt & nut. Put a rubber grommet on the outside of the building where the bolt goes through if you're worried about water getting in.
