I use to think Iris and Laurel were the same character. But really Iris is far worse. Her character literally contributes nothing but angst (my least favorite part of all these shows). At least Laurel can contribute with the law of be an extra body in a fight.

Laurel even had her great moments. Granted, they were the moments she would hilariously fail at crime fighting and get her arse kicked. But she still had them. Iris just sucks 100% of the time.

Maybe they should have her go away for a couple seasons...have her join the peace corps and go to the middle east. Have her actually work on her career by earning real cred in her field as a writer. Her growth as a character from gaining a bit more perspective than thinking she knows about life because she has never left her home town and worked at a coffee shop might help her more with fans.

Her only break as a writer came from the fact that she could blog about a superhero that was crushing on her and gave her exclusives she did not earn/deserve. She was soo talented she even came up with the name "The Streak"...are you serious...that sounds like something a Grandpa does to his whitie tighties.

It also plays in with everyone leaving Barry. The only difference is in time she will move back because she wants to be there. The fact that she is still "grieving" and was basically quoted as saying "frick a world where I end up with Barry" just a season ago...the break would do everyone involved good.

Meanwhile Barry could adapt and grow as an independent character.
