2011 was a perfect storm. We had a rock solid and absolutely stocked D, and then added a game-changing playmaker to the mix. We may never see anything like that again.
I know I hoped that we would see the same kind of thing on offense this year, with Harris looking great from the jump and Fournette being that game-changer. Well, at least he is living up to the billing.
This team could be a great team if it all comes together, but it just isn't there yet. Harris will likely look better if the line can gel in pass protection and the WRs pick it up. The D should get better when Mills gets back and guys like Key get more reps and get more comfortable.
All that said, there isn't a comparison with 2011, even with improvement. This team looks more like 2005 from a talent, leadership, and continuity standpoint. They were close and won plenty of games, but weren't quite ready to be dominant.
