When I was a kid, Howard Johnsons had restaurants and would feature all you could eat fried clam strips.
It was a tradition on our road trips to stop at HoJos and eat lunch. The kids meals had nicknames like Big Chief Beef for the hamburger meal. The clams were awesome - always perfectly sweet.
Friday's used to serve a very good basket of fried clams. The fries that came with them were great when dipped in their tartar sauce. When you were done, the cloth napkin that lined the basket was soaked with grease. This was in the late '70s.
I also miss Chef Boyardee Roller Coasters.

Jacque Pepin was hired by Howard Johnson himself to develop his menu and he worked for him a long time.

Loved the fried clams at HoJos. They had really good ice cream too.
Other things I miss (apologies in advance I'm old!):
Luxury used to make a boxed fettucine dinner 1960's-1980's I want to say - it was very thin fettucine noodles and the sauce was so good. My mother who was a great cook and would make fettucine from scratch would keep this on hand when she didn't feel like doing all the work.
Kraft used to make a boxed Chicken Noodle dinner - it came in a brown box. Creamy sauce and fettucine noodles.
Anyone remember Danny's Fried Chicken? Oh Lord - they made the best onion rings - really more like onion strings - thin and spicy, perfectly seasoned - they were amazing. Didn't care if I got the chicken, but always had to have these. Could eat several orders.
The Kraft Garlic Cheese roll mentioned above - yes definitely on that. Perfect for cheese grits and broccoli casserole. But it was actually the Kraft Jalapeno Cheese roll that was needed for Spinach Madeline. Sadly they don't make either anymore.
Dapple - this was a carbonated apple flavored soft drink - 1970's. Sounds weird, tasted great.
Danish Go Rounds - a Pop Tart competitor but may have also been made by Kellogg's. I thought they were better than Pop Tarts.
