That said, it remains jarring to hear Saban openly admit on his weekly Alabama radio show that he was happy to help players cheat on the Wonderlic. As documented by Atlanta Journal-Constitution affiliate SECCountry.com, Saban said that if a player who'd caught his interest had struggled on the infamous NFL-adminstered test, he'd request a second opportunity for the player -- then administer the test himself.

“I hate to admit it now, but if I really liked a player, I would actually take the test out, look at it, tutor the guy a little bit, alright, before he took it,” Saban said. “Maybe lose a few minutes on the timing part of it, so he had a little extra time ... and they would do better.

"But we were trying to create opportunities then, just like we're trying to create opportunities for people now.”

Let's be clear about this up front: if you're doing any serious hand-wringing over Nick Saban lending a very friendly hand to players he wanted to draft as an NFL coach eight or more years ago, well, you must be doing a lot of serious hand-wringing these days.

Dude, if you don't think players are trained and tutored how to take the Wonderluck Test, then I don't know what to tell you.

I should know, I worked at the NFL Combine one year (Luck and RG3 year).

That's an issue between him and the Dolphins. They were the ones who got screwed in that deal and had to live with dumb players when $aban chickened out and left the NFL.

I'll tell you who didn't, and that is Kenny Irons.

Who cares. I don't really think the Wonderlic matters all that much anyway. How well and fast a player solves word problems has to have a pretty small effect on his career as a football player.

Doesn't bother me at all.

But if I were a GM and I thought the Wonderlic mattered for anything I know I'd ding every Alabama recruit as a potential issue. So it just seems dumb to come out and say it.
