I was a little disappointed TBH. The movie tried too hard, and there was no emotional connection. It was well-paced and had good cinematography and performances, but it wasn't as thrilling as most top-tier thrillers IMO. I'll probably watch it again in theaters, though, because there were a lot of distractions tonight (people on cell phones, talking, etc.).

There is nothing ground breaking about the screenplay.

This is an example of a decent/solid story taken to another level due to direction, cinematography, acting, and score.

I mean, the whole scene of their incursion into Juarez is a great example. It was incredible for me

one critic called it, "an arthouse popcorn film"

I agree. Same source material with a Michael Bay or another director and it's just an average cartel flick.

I was completely immersed and hanging on every word. I actually had to pee when I sat down in my seat but I sat through the whole movie. it was that good
