Wink Hub and Hue Bulb - can I control the bulb without the Hue "bridge"

I tried googling but got nothing. Anybody know the answer to this?

i'm 99% sure thats the dirty little hue secret..you have to have that bridge to get these bulbs to work with any 3rd party 'brain' like jasco or wink or even amazon echo.
even the 'new' $40 kit they have coming out will work with THEIR little remote but you are forced to upgrade to the bridge if you want to actually use them with any type of home automation system.

some of the lutron stuff is the same way. the caseta switches need to have the smart bridge to work with a cell phone. i'm holding out until i can get one hub for everything. hoping the new apple tv will fill that role
