Well it has always struck me as odd that there was that much firepower already surrounding the place. I've been to plenty of COC meetings here in Alabama where there will be "public safety" roadblocks just outside the entrances to the meeting place. The last such instance was only late last year where I was greeted by a guy in full body armor and armed with an M4 demanding to see my DL. While he looked it over another similarly armed guy came around and made sure to get plenty of pictures of me from front, side, and back. What agency or law entity these guys belonged to, I have no idea. They had no marking on anything to say who they were. Both looked like they were more equipped to storm Fallujah than conduct a random roadside check. But even with that, what the cops had lined up in Waco was on a whole other scale. The cops in Waco came into that situation loaded for bear.


ETA: And one more thing about this roadblock, only motorcycles were pulled over and checked. If you were in a cage, you were waived on through.
