Don’t take my word for it. Take Sark’s. Only recently, after finally giving up his offensive play calling duties to Clay Helton, he admitted it had been something of a revelation to spend time in defensive meetings and actually observe some defensive drills in practice.

Think about that for a minute. The head coach at one of the most storied football schools in America was all but admitting that he couldn’t have cared less about defense until, oh, about two weeks ago.

Ohio State's defense isn't that good, Pat Haden? Lulz.

Oh how I wish Zamoro hadn't disappeared from this board. USC losing wasn't the same without one of his patented meltdowns

Sark's 2012 Washington team was one of the least competative games I've seen played it tiger stadium. They were thoroughly dominated. Completely punch less. I've never seen a power 5 conference team that was supposed to be decent look so happy to keep the clock rolling in the 2nd half, happy to have the game over, no pride...

Sark has always scared me since that. And I thought he was over rated before that game. I just don't think high end football coaches have losses like that in year 4 of a tenure. Sark seems to be a mess, you wonder how he got the gig to begin with

Haden and the schools president Max Nikias are the overarching problems and have run the football, basketball, and baseball programs into the ground. They are most interested in GPAs and winning olympics sport national titles. Anything that gets in the way of academic fundraising and rankings has to be destroyed. Until SC gets an AD and president that are actually interested in winning, all of USC's sports will continue to be soft as butter.

Seven Win Steve and his drinking buddies are just a manifestation of Haden's ineptness

“I vehemently disagree with that,” Haden said. “I think we’ve put tremendous emphasis on our defense. You can see it in our incoming recruiting class. Besides, the game has changed a lot in recent years.

“This is just a different era. Believe me, I’ve studied this and the top five indicators of winning football the past five years are all on offense. Look at Ohio State. They won the national championship and their defense wasn’t that good.”

Dude needs to GTFO with this.

Groucho Marx is attributed as saying, "I don't want to belong to any club that would have someone like me as a member."

USC has a worse problem. They don't want to hire anyone who would be happy to work there.

Instead, they're obsessed with flashy hires that often have little substance.
