I do find Doctor Who fans to be real pompous. I think they have this "I am so cultured" attitude because they watch the more off beat science fiction show.
This isn't really exclusive to Doctor Who fans, it seems to be most people that claim they only watch United Kingdom programming.

Hipsters. So many watch that show. They lack the conviction to be real geeks.
